About Anahata Yoga Workshop

At Anahata Yoga, we seek to support our students at all stages of their yoga journey. An important element of this support is the regular yoga workshops we conduct. These workshops are designed as focused sessions covering specific areas of yoga to advance the knowledge and skill development of our yoga students. The workshops represent opportunities for certified teachers to capture continuing education skills, regular yoga practitioners to capture knowledge and skill to develop their practice, or anyone who wants to understand particular aspects of yoga at a deeper level than available in normal yoga class environments. All our Masters have extensive experience and skill, this allows us to cater for all student levels from beginner to long-term practitioners in an interactive, supportive and safe environment.

The workshop will be lead and supported by Anahata Yoga Masters with extensive skill and experience to ensure each student progress further in their practice. All activities and asanas will be presented and demonstrated in a structured and simple manner to ensure students capture a good understanding of methods and approaches. Each student will develop skills and understanding in a safe, fun and enjoyable environment which will help them to enhance their own practice.

How to use the Wheel as a  yoga prop in our asana practice.

A wheel (specifically designed for yoga practice) has been used as a yoga prop for a few years. The inventor of this round wheel mode of plastic is Master Dharma Mitra. As each teacher has unique approach to yoga practice, Master Dharma mitra introduced to this students and since then the wheel has become one of the commonly used prop in yoga practice.

Why it should not be called as "Wheel Yoga"

The wheel is becoming increasingly popular as a yoga prop. However, it shouldn’t be used as an exclusive yoga practice sequence. Because the practitioner is limited in their ability to perform poses on their own, especially if they are able to do them without the wheel’s assistance, therefore calling a yoga sequence “wheel yoga” is not the proper understanding to yoga practice and its benefits. As well as practicing one specific sequence of poses and relying on one prop is not recommended, as it will limit one’s ability to grow. In this workshop Master Keshav will give a detailed introduction to the benefits and limits of using wheel as a prop for basic, intermediate level variations of poses. He will also explain how it can be safely and effectively applied in our practice. When you learn how to use the wheel as a yoga prop anatomically and mindfully, you will see some amazing achievements in your yoga asana practice. These workshops will introduce many new yoga pose variations invented by master Keshav himself.

Join Master Keshav for a two-day immersion designed to move beyond the basics of wheel yoga. These sessions focus on the "why" behind the movement, helping you build a safer, more intelligent practice through precision and mindful progression.

Workshop 1: Space & Release | Hip & Back Opening

Sunday, 18 October - 2.30 – 5.00 pm

The yoga wheel is a powerful ally for the spine, but its true magic lies in how it helps us find space in the hips and heart. In this session, we focus on deep, supported openings. Master Keshav will guide you through techniques to release tension in the hip flexors and thoracic spine, using the wheel to provide both the resistance and the support needed for deeper, more stable backbends. This workshop is ideal for anyone looking to improve flexibility while maintaining structural integrity.

Workshop 2: Power & Balance | Core Strength & Arm Balances

(Public Holiday) Monday, 19 October -2.30 – 5.00 pm

The wheel isn’t just for stretching—it is a formidable tool for building stability. This session shifts focus to the "fire" of the practice. We will explore how to use the wheel’s instability to engage the deep core and refine our center of gravity. Master Keshav will break down the mechanics of arm balancing, showing you how the wheel can act as a bridge to lift higher and hold longer. Expect to challenge your coordination and leave with a newfound sense of strength.

Who should attend?

These workshops are designed for practitioners who want to refine their technique. Whether you are new to the wheel or looking to advance your practice, Master Keshav provides personal adjustments and modifications to suit your current level.
