Student Feedback

Hear what our past and present students have to say about our Teacher Training Programmes.

Feedback and leaning experience about this Teacher training program I found the teachers in Anahata are very professional and they teach us in a lively way. Above all, they do teach us from the heart. I am truly appreciated them. I remembered that there are several times we come up with some questions after the class (it was 9:30PM already!); however they still explain to us patiently and they are willing to share their personal experience with us. Apart from that, I am glad to know they have some volunteer programs that allow us to share our yoga knowledge and experience with the community; it also provides us an opportunity to gain some practical experience that I found it is hardly to understand through the book. I do really hope that I can bring the yoga experience to as many people as possible. I remembered 2 years ago, I just started practice yoga seriously but somehow I already wanted to do the Teacher training program. However I didnt do that as I found it is too early to think about the TTC or may be I am not ready. Two years later, I made the decision, as I want to know more about what yoga is. I found this part-time course is more challenging than I expected. It is a physical and mind challenge. As we have to sit for the evening class twice a week but also I have attended their Andiappan class twice a week, although it is optional. To me every Tuesday is the start of the challenging week…Although it is challenging, I enjoyed the training a lot, Through this training, I found I have gained some knowledge which previously I may have neglected or I may just donot understand the importance of it such as anatomy and why some posture is not suitable for some people. But at the same time I feel that I still have lots of things I donot know and I still need to learn; to experience; and to explore…this course allows me to understand more about my physical body / limitation, myself and what is Yoga! To me yoga is more than just an asana practice; it is a spiritual practice and is lifetime practice! I would like to take this chance to thank you the teachers for their teaching, sharing and patience! Thank you very much! Namaste!

Positive feedback and learning experience: I very much enjoyed the Yoga anatomy model with Master Vishnu. He was able to teach us a great deal about the anatomy of the body linked to yoga postures. I have received hands-on advice on postures, which is will use in my personal life as well as future teaching. The asana model was very in-depth and I have made a huge progress in these postures. I enjoyed the personal guidance and attention during this module. Improvement / suggestions: The handouts could be more structured and presented in a more organized manner. It is not very handy to use the handouts as future reference guides. For the duration of which the course is running and the price of the course, better and more detailed course material would have been expected.

I am very grateful to all the Masters, they are all very knowledgeable and inspiring, and always enthusiastic in answering our questions, as well as sharing their experience. I really enjoyed very much and have many good memories. I hope I can join the Yoga Therapy & Ayurveda Teacher Training Course later. I would like to suggest having 2 more lectures in the anatomy module, so that we can have more time to digest and absorb the contents.

When I went to first yoga class 6 years ago, dragged by a friend who was into yoga (or should I say asana practice) for some time; I was very skeptical and had all those misleading ideas about yoga. At that time I had a stressful job, working bery long hours, running everywhere, and did not really pay attending to my lifestyle. Following the 1st class I enrolled into a studio and got quite quickly a fan of the physical benefits yoga was having on my body, and how calm and peaceful I was after a class. I started practice asanas more and more; as  I got pregnant I could feel the overall benefits and how the practice was actually preparing my body as well as my mind for the day I would give birth. Another 2 pregnancies and births later, more or less regular practice through the past 6 years; and a career change as a doula; I realized yoga really had a positive impact on my wellbeing (body and mind) and my way to approach situations in my daily life; whether it is at work with parents I supports or at home with my own family. I though it was a good time to deepen my knowledge and my practice; in order to share with others the benefits of yoga; and like my job, my lifestyle and my practice together. I enjoyed the structure of the training. Each modules were smoothly linked to each others, the time spent on each topic/module the content of the manual and the knowledge and experience of each Master are well balanced, explanations were clear. I am overall extremely happy with this training. I have seen changes in my practice and experience of yoga all along this training, Ive learnt so much and gained the awareness I was missing to understand and deepen my practice. I enjoyed each module, and have now a better understanding of the physical body thanks to the anatomy part. The module about the origins or yoga was very inspiring. The asana and teaching modules gave me tools to gain awareness on my own practice; and hands-on experience on how to teach, assist and share. The final module on Kriya, Pranayama, Bandha and Mudra added a new dimension to my practice and was very instructive. I was excited when I signed up for the YTT but did not realized how much I would gain and learn from this training. I am thrilled I took part of this experience. All our instructors: Master Vishnu, Anurag, Yogesh and Yogananth were very different in their way of teaching; they all had different aspects of yoga to share according to their own experiences; an d they were all very good with sharing, explaining, teaching, and most importantly they were all very passionate…… they are teaching and practicing yoga from their heart; giving a very special energy and sense to the training. Thank you!

The end of this training is the beginning of a new journey for me. I will be on both sides of the matt and keep on learning everyday. I am not finished with Anahata s TT, you will see me again. Feedback and learning experience I think the course material pretty much cover most of yoga aspects. However, the history and philosophy maybe can cover in more details. For asana materials, I think it should be explaining with more words in the text, especially those modification and variations of asanas. I think practical teaching can be adding more throughout the course, maybe extend to half an hour. Other than that, I learn that yoga is not only with asanas but through this course I get to know my body, the inner self more. I may not be fully understand the philosophy well in Yoga but surely will want to explore more after taking the course. Namaste.

I have hugely enjoyed participating in the Anahata yoga teacher-training course. I originally signed up the course to learn more about yoga anantomy and further develop my self yoga practice, but have ended up getting so much more out of the course than I originally anticipated. Coming from working many years in the corporate world, this experience has helped me appreciate the importance of balance and stillness of mind, helping me find peace and contentment in a time of stress and uncertainty. Each of the teachers had their own individual style and were inspiring in different ways. I would strongly recommend this course to others who wish to deepen their understanding of yoga. The Anahata experience has made me keen to share some fo what I have learnt with others, and I am excited to now begin to start on my own journey as a yoga teacher. I look forward to staying in connection with the studio and yoga masters through participation in the Yoga Anahata Community Forum.

I was very impressed by the high standard of yoga practice at Anahata Yoga. One can tell that all the teachers have practiced yoga from childhood. Having practiced Yoga for 6 years before, it was a bit humbling to see the high skills of certain members. There were many poses I have not seen before. It was quite challenging to join some classes. However, I have improved a lot, especially through the Andiappan self-practice classes. Improvement in flexibility and knowledge, as now I have a deeper understanding of the philosophy beyond asanas. Knowing why doing certain poses and how to do them properly and espectially, how to teach them to others have really enlightened my life! The only complaint I have is the sparse use of air-conditioning. I have to say that, coming from a temperate climate, doing exercises under almost hot-yoga conditions is simply not very relaxing and energyzing for me. I really enjoyed this course and would like to thank all the Yoga Masters at Anahata Yoga!

From the yoga view I also fell that Ive improve a lot, now im more conscious of what im doing an how to do it, and I feel that is more important do just few proper postures than do many but dont take care of the details.

I am a beginner of Yoga. The 200hrs YTT course at Anahata Yoga has given me so much knowledge about yoga that I probably cant learn it anywhere else in Hong Kong. I have improved my yoga practice a lot from taking this course and become more grounded in my practice. I had always to ease my fear. This is something that I never thought I can do. All of the yoga masters at Anahata are very helpful in my 30hours of self practice classes. They are always helping me adjust my posture. The class handouts are details oriented with a lot knowledge about yoga. Its must read for anyone who are interested in Yoga. I look forward to study /practice at Anahata Yoga again in the future. The teaching training course has been a great experience. I moved back to Hong Kong a year and I am so glad that I had chosen the right studio for my yoga training and practices. Teachers have a vast of knowledge and passion and always very helpful. I have learnt a lot from different teachers in different prospective, which helps to improve both my physical and mental aspects in my own yoga practice. I know that yoga is a lifelong learning journey and I am very grateful to have Anahata Yoga Studio to be a part of my journey.

Two years ago, when I first met Yoga, I felt Yoga was very suitable for me. I kept practice once or twice every week. The longer I practice, the more benefit I got from yoga. When I moved to Hong Kong one year ago, I was looking for a yoga center where I could learn further about yoga. I found the Anahata Yoga center offered the yoga teacher training course. I joined the course and in fact I studied much more than I expected. Thank you so much for Master Vishnu, Master Anurag, Master Yogesh and Master Yogananth. They are very professional, they shared their knowledge and personal experiences to every student. Thank you Master Vijay, Master Yoko and Master Guruprit, they helped me to approach my postures. Yoga is and ocean, and Ananaha yoga the 200hrs YTT course is a boat, it takes me on my yoga jouney. The 200hrs YTT was end. But I keep on practicing every day in Anahata Yoga Center. Anahata Yoga center teacher yoga from the heart, and I study yoga from heart.

First of all, I am very grateful I was able to join the 200hrs TT Certificate Course with you. From the very beginning I felt very well supported by your staff. Chi, who was my first contact person, filled me in with all the necessary information and also provided very helpful assistance throughout the whole course. I was also very impressed by the friendliness of all the staff at the reception and they really had great attitude and a lot of patience. I want to thank all of them. I found the Course very professional and it is impressive what Yogananth Andiappan brought to Hong Kong and built up to serve so many students and enable them to learn so much from the Thirumoolars Ashtanga Yoga lieage. I particularly appreciated the great variation of topics covered in this Course. The theory part was well diversified and the practical part was organized in a very exciting and enjoyable way. Moreover, the fact that you allow students to take classes with Anahata teachers really makes the leaning experience very efficient. I believe I was able to gain a lot of new experiences in a great way as the course structure allowed me to transfer things I learnt in theory into practice. This helped me to really cement the knowledge gained in the theory. Furthermore, being able to join different teachers classes helped me to gain more experience in the different styles of teaching. Last but not least, all of your teachers have inspirited me and helped me delve into an unforgettable lifetime experience. To be able to learn from teachers who grew up with yoga, who are from the places where yoga is originated and teach yoga from the heart -  this is what made this course experience unique. Thank you!! I am looking forward to join the Yoga Andiappan Community for the voluntary teaching activities as soon as I am back in Hong Kong. I find this I a very admirable act and I am looking forward to share my experiences with other people within your community

I have been practicing yoga for several years, on and off, with different teachers. My long time dream has been to study yoga more intensively. Anhata 200 hours yoga course gave me possibility to concentrate on yoga and get deeper understanding of it. Biggest advantage of this course is that I am sure yoga will stay in my daily life from now on. I am motivated to practice even on my own. I am hoping to share this joy of yoga with other people at the same time understanding this is a life long path to learn more. But I am very happy to be on this path. Thank you for the wonderful teachers Masters Yogananth, Vishnu, Yogesh and Anurag.

I started the Teacher Training Program not to become a Yoga Teacher, But to have more knowledge about Yoga. Indeed, we all start yoga by going to a studio an dattedning group classes. Even though they help to develop body flexibility and strength, little is said about the postures benefits, the history of yoga, the philosophy etc… After reading a few books and the advices of my teachers, I found that I needed to practice with more awareness, otherwise I wouldnt be able to go further on my practice. For example, I have never been interested in learning some postures until I discovered the benefit they could bring to my body and mind. In other words, to find the motivation and strength to continue my practice, I felt I needed more information, more knowledge, so as to set a clear direction, clear goals concerning my yoga practice. But the yoga Teacher Training program exceeded my expectations, in the sense that not only it allowed me to set clear goals for my practice, at least in the short run, but Ive also been taught some very important life lessons: acceptance & ego surrendering. It is not something written explicitly in the course material, but all the additional stories shared by the teachers and the interactions with the other students made me finally understood these concepts, and I think this clearly changed my way of thinking. Concerning the program itself, the anatomy module was the most difficult for me, in spite of Master Vishnu detailed explanations, and I will probably need some more time and readings to have a better understanding of the human body. I also realized that yoga philosophy and history were much more complex that I have imagined, even though Master Anurag simplified thins a lot for us, and this will also require additional self study. The other modules were a bit more easier because of their practical side. Master Yogananth & master Yogesh made Asana, Ptanayama & Kriyas practice lively and very interesting. I also think the short presentations we had to prepare were also very helpful, as they required us to challenge a bit our understanding. I mean most of the time you realize that you have understood or not something when you have to explain it to other persons in very simple terms. My only suggestion will be to have more of these small exercises. Finally, I can say that although the YTT was quite an investment and commitment, it made me reflect on myself, realize the areas of improvements and set up clear goals for the future. Now Im definitely sure that yoga goes beyond asana practice, and I am trying to incorporate progressively its principles in my daily life and sharethem with people showing interest. Thank you so much for guiding me through this stage of my yoga journey. May others guide you the same way as well. Namaste

Rich and useful theory and practical, fulfilling arrangements throughtout the course, Centre could consider increasing the guidance and explains more in practical postures in the practical series. Particular concept such as Andiappan sessions, idea is great and very effective for teaching training participants but the schedule time is inflexible. Besides, experienced teachers sessions should come up with some possible solution for validity booking in advance, Hope increases the schedules so that there will be possibility for joining. For practical point of view, the only best way is having chance to share the experience from senior adviors and masters on its teaching and, more important, be inspired. As for short-term courses not available for licensing via Internet filling thus lead to class has been difficult. Personally wish to learn more in Anatomy topic as it is an important basic to asanas and healing process. Anahata yoga center services and facilities that provides are in good conditions, staff and tutors are very polite and accommodating. Wish to have more links, advices and activities as to lead and assist new born instructors to overcome teaching problem, uncertainty and nervous as way to get into the path of the sharing in yoga in everyday life. Thank you so much for offering the opportunity in learning and getting closer to yoga understand and start proper practice.

The training transformed my practice on a deep level. I learnt many new technics to approach advanced poses that I would never imagine of doing. I love the fact that many warm up technics and different ways of approaching a pose are taught in class. The training is a challenging one but it opens up my mind and let me experience what yoga really is. I enjoyed the training very much. Last but not least, I am grateful for Master Yogananths patience and dedications in his teaching and for Master Vijays skillful adjustments which helped me to experienc a pose deeper.

Feedback: It would be great to have separate lectures to talk about theories like warm up and technics. Although they are covered in practical classes, it is difficult to take notes and to memorize them while attempting the poses. I also felt that the second half of training was quite rushed. It is rather difficult to absorb all the new things that are taught. That being said, I have learnt a lot from the training, on both practical level and understanding of myself. Thank you!

My experience about this course was very important for my development of my practice. The course was very intense and I had some difficult moments to understand and to accept my limitations in my practice, but in the other side this experience had opened in me another level of consciousness. It was very important to have these two months of school and focus on my practice. Now a have a more clear picture how I can improve the practice but also how improve myself with the yoga in my daily life, now I fell more self-confidence how to better the positions and listen and feel my body in the posture, thanks to the understanding of the anatomy and how I breathe. It was a beautiful experience and I consider myself lucky to have done it. Namaste!

When I started learning yoga, my teacher and classmates told me that I would be able to do the posture if I practiced every day. However, I do not understand why I can do the posture at one time and cannot do it at the other time. Through this TT course, I not only explore my body limitation but also understand the coordination of muscle and breathing in yoga practice. I can also get the benefit of the posture through different modifications and variations. Master Yogannath is very open-minded. He explained in great detail and very scientifically the movement of joints as well as how different types of muscles and tendons work. It was very impressive. Now I understand while regular practice is important, listening and understanding our body are as important. I really appreciate Master Yogannaths passion and unselfishness in teaching. He totally understands the condition of each member and takes good care of everyone. Thank you, Master Yogannath for your encouragement. And, thank you, Master Vijay for your help.

I am delighted to have completed this teacher training course. The topics offered are taught through by experienced teachers from the easy to the complicated. Though these topics are relatively new to me, the discussion and practice sessions have leaded me to understand more on the concepts of Ayurveda and Yoga Therapy. Complicated as these concepts may seem, they are actually closely related to reallife, which I can apply the knowledge in life and be more wary of the food I take and my postural habits. I would definitely recommend this teacher training course to people around.

Feedback and Learning Experience I felt that I learned a lot from the class. I especially enjoyed the asana exercise. A few suggestions include: Have the lectures organized by page numbers so that students more easily and quickly find the sections that are being covers. Discuss the topics in a linear fashion-for example, covering section1, then 2, etc- so that students do not need to go back and forth in the workbook packet. Organize the workbook to follow this linear format. Remember that discussions (especially for the Anatomy sections) may be difficult for many students to understand. A non-native English speaker (teacher), teaching in English, to non-native English speakers (Chinese) means that many times the students are not really grasping the material. Do stretches at the beginning of each class and at the top of each hour or one and half hours-to help keep students more awake and engaged. From the beginning have students do warm ups 2 times per class. This way each student gets 1 or 2 chances to practice warming up the class and directing a group. Consider having a few sections (like Anatomy) done on-line- so that students have time to review the material and understand it better. Then a review could be done in class and the instructor available to answer questions. This would also save some time. I hope this is helpful. I have a quite a bit of experience in training and taking corporate training classes.

Completing the 200 hours Yoga teaching training was a passion and I have finally made my first move towards to a whole new world. It is not just a 3 months part time study, it is something I will take with me for my entire life. All the teacher were extremely helpful. Impressed by the details, and their amazing background. After this course, I will not only do yoga, but knows 1) physically, what exactly how to do each asana and why doing them for, 2) mentally, it calms me down, helps with the stress of life, and eventually I connected my mind and my body through yoga. Here I want to give some feedbacks and share my experience about 200 hours Teacher Training Course. For the modules of “Yoga Anatomy Theory” and “Yoga History and Philosophy” are the most difficult for me. its because I have practiced yoga for several years in other yoga centres. My understanding of yoga, its just a kind of physical exercise only. I now know that my understanding is so superficial.      Yoga is a kind mental practicing / behavioral control rather than physical practice.  Be a good yogi or yoga teacher, I have to practice yoga for my mental / physical system, I have to know the function of the body parts, what they do and how they do, as well as the structure of body parts. After I joined the Teacher Training Course in Anahata, I have leant a lot of different knowledge for yoga, such as, its theory of history, physiology, anatomy, asana practices, pranayama, Mudra, Bandha etc….. Be a sitter on the Teacher Training Course, I’m transforming myself everyday! I do appreciate to Masters Yogananth, Vishnu, Anurag and Yogesh that they taught me a lot of knowledge about yoga, its useful for my whole life. Although 200 hours Teacher Training Course has to be finished within 3.5 months, it seems very short, I did spend much time in Anahata and studied everything so hard.  For instance, we sat still on the floor for few hours class so that my whole body was very tired, but masters were teaching us with a lively and funny minded, so I had a lot of great time in the classroom and made new friends in the class. When I finished the course, Anahata gives us voluntary training base of a yoga teacher trial model at the community campaigns, hospitals or charity centres. I appreciate these are good chances for me teaching yoga for what I have learnt, it benefits to everyone involved. Recently, be a volunteer of Anahata Andiappan Community, I’m so proud to join this community and feel peaceful with the charity events. Here, thanks a lot for our some great masters/teachers: Master Yogananth Andiappan Master Vishnu Master Anurag Master Yogesh
