Most people already know the benefits of yoga and wished they started earlier. A healthy body and a strong mind is the formula of a successful life. Yoga provides the foundation for a healthy development of both the body and the mind.

Yoga improves their strength, flexibility and reduces the risk of injuries with other sports such as football, swimming, or golf. Other benefits of yoga include improved mental focus, reduce stress and mind control which will complement their other interests in music or dancing.


Key benefits of yoga for children include:-

1. Yoga increases co-ordination

Yoga poses strengthen muscles and maintain flexibility in youngsters. The practice of poses with various balancing and dynamic movement help develop balance and coordination.

2. Yoga improves concentration

Yoga poses when combined with proper breathing require the child to fully engage their muscles and joints to properly execute each move. The focus on the body and breath brings attention to the here and now. This helps the mind from wandering, helps them stay alert and receptive to instructions. It is a skill which is useful in their day to day learning environment such as the classroom.

3. Yoga promotes a calmer mind

Focus and steady breathing help calm the mind and enable the release of negative thoughts which are experienced by many adults. This benefit is one of the powerful tools for children to help them gain better control of their actions and emotions.

4. Yoga alleviates stress

One might wonder whether a young child can experience major stress. In children, tension often presents itself as temper tantrums from toddlers to even teenagers. Through yoga, children learn breathing, concentration and relaxation techniques to help diffuse these emotional flare-ups.

5. Yoga promotes creativity and self-expression

Yoga for children can be fun, imaginative and explores their creativity as they imitate shapes, objects, animals and express themselves in a non-competitive and nurturing environment. We encourage children in a yoga class to be creative and interactive.

Certification –  This program offers 18 classes in total. Children who attend a minimum of twelve classes during the summer yoga program will be given a certificate of attendance.
